Today is my Grandma's birthday...

and she would have been a spry 90 years old. She was born Martha Helena Anderson in De Kalb, Illinois in 1920. When I was young, she moved to Texas with my Aunt Dee Dee but returned to Southern California while I was still in elementary school. I vividly remember the day she came back....she flew into Carlsbad..not Limbergh field and she was wearing a baby blue pantsuit. Some things just stick with you I guess.

I think of her whenever I......

~buy Doublemint gum. I always want to half the pieces.

~smell Tresor. It was her "smell". I can smell it today and feel her with me.

~think about Carlsbad, the Danish bakery, hoopty cars, cardoman bread, persimmon cookies, ice milk, Jack in the Box and so many other little things.

I wish she could have waited for Drew. At least he got to hear her voice. I wish my girls knew her and could feel her love. I don't doubt that she is with me always......and I really think she would have enjoyed fishing with my kids in the Atlantic.
