Friday morning dawned a little gray and overcast but the sun was shining bright in Carolyn's heart! She woke up early...6:30 so she could make sure to have her lunch packed, her blanket ready and her gifts for her friend ready. All we talked about all morning was Walter. Walter. Walter. Walter.
At the beginning of the school year, JPS began a pen pal program with the Marines and Sailors of the 26th MEU. All year long wonderful letters as well as drawings were exchanged and the kids really got to know their pen pals. They got their last letters at the beginning of the week and were so excited about finally meeting their pen pals. It was wonderful to see the Sailors and Marines walk into JPS and to see all of the kids with their pen pals. Walter's letters to Carl hold a very special place in her heart and so does he.....
