Earlier this year, students in Mrs. Snyder's class submitted stories and illustrations to the Onslow-Lejeune Reading Council. 9 students in Mrs. Snyder's class were selected and sent to the state competition...where Carly was selected as a STATE winner!
On Sunday, April 5th those 9 students were recognized for the writing efforts by Onslow-Lejeune Reading Council at the Young Authors Celebration. Every student was presented with a copy of the book. The theme for this years competition was bridges and the book is as well, entitled "Bridges"!
The celebration started with a welcome by the president of the Reading Council, Ms Jessica Greene. Each of the state winners were asked to read their stories and another "young" author; Mrs Mary Dyer, a newly published first time author herself, spoke about the love of writing. She even recited a work of poetry that she composed just for the Young Authors celebration.
We are so very proud of Carolyn and are looking forward to the statewide celebration in Raleigh in a few weeks.
