At school earlier this week, one of Mads teacher's had offered extra credit towards a Paul Revere project due later if the students attended a festival at The Museum of the Cape Fear. Perry was out of town so Mads, Carl and I headed over to the Museum without any idea of what to expect. Drew being a teenager opted to spend his Saturday in his room playing video and computer games...go figure.
We had a WONDERFUL time! The Museum was hosting a festival in Arsenal Park highlighting children in colonial America. The girls got to make muslin dolls, play on era toys, watch a Punch and Judy show (google it....I'm still not sure that it is 100% kid appropriate!), pet a horse and watch a demonstration on Colonial weaponry. We also toured the Poe House, an 1897 era home decorated in the highest and latest fashion of the day. The girls learned SO much about a child's life then and believe me, it made them SO appreciate their life now!
