One of the many perks of Perry's new workplace are the Chaplain sponsored retreats. We found out not long after checking in that a Family Retreat at Great Wolf Lodge in Concord NC was coming up and we jumped at the chance. The only thing that we didn't like was that it was scheduled for right after Zach left to return to Michigan :(. We were happily excited to learn that we had been selected in the lottery for the opportunity to go. Our lodging was free (we did pay a $50 registration fee but won $50 in GC so it evened out!), we were given a $150 gift card to be used anyway we wanted but was really intended for food and we had unlimited use of the grounds and waterpark!
We left the house on Friday morning after dropping Ollie off at the kennel and started our three hour trip to Concord. The drive was really pretty and since we didn't have to report for the first session until 7 pm..we knew we would get some quality water time in. We got there about 1 pm and were happily surprised to find our room ready. Thank goodness too because I was not looking forward to getting ready and not losing anything in a locker room! While Perry checked us in, the kids and I checked out the lodge......
The kids were thrilled with park, more Magi-quest and all the fun stuff going on.

This is were Perry and I spent Friday night....sitting in the lobby, drinking beer while the kids ran around on their Magi-Quest! |
We had a really great time working on our family communication skills as well as learning about how we each see our family as a whole. It turns out the kids don't really think Perry and I are super strict or lenient...a good thing really! We made a family crest together and all had fun participating in the activities.

It was a good weekend....
Erin - we're headed to the Great Wolf in Sandusky this weekend! I'm pretty excited about it. The kids know we're going somewhere, but they don't know where. It looks like you had a great time! Thanks for sharing!
