Family Fishing Day!

This morning we got up bright and early (actually we slept in since we normally get up at 5:30), gathered the family and headed to the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center & Fish Hatchery. The Lutheran Men in Mission of our church, St. James Lutheran sponsored this event and even more special..we had our birthday boy there!

It was CHILLY!!

The kids have been asking forever to go fishing.....ever since we moved to Hope Mills. Perry had hoped to take the kids fishing at Lake Hope Mills after we got settled here but then the dam burst and the lake flooded. We could have fished in the Cape Fear River but truth be told....YUCK!

We started off our trip with some education....the anatomy of a pole, rig and fish and then some casting lessons. Then off to the hatchery lakes for some practice casting without hooks....an thank goodness for that because I am pretty sure I would have been hooked by one little girl who shall remain nameless!

Learning to put the bobber on...

Smith Team!

If you catch it...you must release it. Carly disagreed.
Baiting her hook with a worm....a million laughs
Hard to believe he spent half his life in Asia huh.....
She really loves fishing...she just hates baiting the hook and touching the fish. As if I needed anymore confirmation that she is indeed my child.....

The next Sunday at church on the bulletin we saw this....
Do you recognize any kids??

  1. Cute! Love Maddie's face and was Carly acting like a Lenny? 'I will love you, hug you, squeeze you and keep you forever...." Is that why she didn't want to give it back? lol

Drew must of taught Jack that Sumo Squat....thanks.
